3 Hearts Grief Support

About us
Annette Burckart MAAT, ATR-P

A warm welcome to you, as we share a little bit of our background. I have been honored to work with hurting people in the grief community for many years. I am fortunate to have had multiple opportunities to walk alongside children and adults offering them art therapy as another “language” to process their grief. I have been a part of implementing children's grief camp for ten years fostering grief mentors and creative outlets to work through their losses. I have led many one on one art therapy sessions and art therapy support groups for adults and children, including widows and widowers, those who have lost a child, and multigenerational groups to support families. A few years ago, I was honored to be a part of a large collaboration entitled The Grief Deck project that started in New York eventually publishing 2 decks of cards that could be used to assist with grief support. This tool was especially helpful during Covid times when individuals were so isolated. I have had multiple opportunities to serve elementary and middle schools in the Dayton area offering grief groups for their students, as well as orchestrating ‘Tribute Walls’ in honor of the deceased students or staff members in their buildings. In the past I have owned and operated a parent/child business for families to create personalized art and have also taught in elementary school settings.

During our art therapy sessions and groups, I hold space for clients to trust the process as they use creative art mediums to allow healing to begin. I offer a client-centered approach and opportunities for people to process emotions and memorialize. I always remind clients that ‘no artistic skill’ is needed to engage in art therapy. I hold a MAAT (Masters of Arts in Art Therapy with an Emphasis in Counseling) and ATR-P licensure. I also continue to hold an Elementary Teaching License. I look forward to meeting you and giving you a new way to process your grief!
Love,
Annette
Bonnie Orlins ACHP-SW, LISW-S

I have offered grief support to clients for over 35 years. I have personally experienced profound loss in my own life which I believe helps me have a greater understanding and relate on an even deeper level with my clients. It has been my honor to companion with people on their grief journeys as they eventually realize, that while they do not get over people, it is very possible to live in a world without those people physically present and have it become a good world again. I have witnessed this happening over and over.

I offer non-judgmental listening, grief education, and assistance in processing feelings. I partner with clients to create and enhance effective coping skills. Clients have expressed gratitude to me that I am an "outside the box" counselor and treat people as individuals.
While there are clearly commonalities on a grief journey, there are also individual differences, challenges, and strengths.
I have previous experience working in both mental health and medical settings with clients of all ages. I worked for many years with individuals undergoing kidney dialysis and with transplant recipients.

I am an MSW and LISW-S. I have advanced certification in Hospice and Palliative Care (ACHP-SW) and I am certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
I sincerely look forward to sharing my heart with you.
